These cases rarely result in prosecution of the officers involved (Laquan MacDonald, the Gurley case and Walter Scott in SC) and conviction is even more rare (Gurley's killer was convicted but the prosecutor suspended his sentence, and Scott's killer pleaded to federal charges.)

There was a lot of discussion during the Obama-Holder years about changing this depressing dynamic, including figuring out why so much overwhelming force is being used on people of color. That talk is gone. Who you elect, from the prosecutor to the president, makes a difference.
