Thoughts:

#AQuietPlace made 50 mil.

Its speech is mostly conveyed via ASL & subtitles.

A lot of y'all saw the movie.

You were capable of watching it in a movie theater w/ subtitles.

So there shouldn't be a problem w/ having subtitled/captioned movies in theaters.

Right?
I'm just asking because when Nyle DiMarco was talking about his terrible experience of trying to see Black Panther at the movie theater, some of y'all acted like putting captions/subtitles on the screen would be the greatest imposition of your lives.
Which...
In conclusion, captions for everything. Please and thank you.
Just one note of clarification:

When I say "captions for everything," I don't mean that uncaptioned things/screenings should not be available (even though I personally always have captions on whenever I can).

I just mean there should be BOTH.
And I think that those of us who are hearing, in particular, have a responsibility to advocate for this, just like any other privileged group has a similar responsibility in other facets of life.
The main thing I've learned from responses to these tweets is that countries all over the world already caption their movies, sometimes even in multiple languages.

America pulling up the rear.

Again.
Also, really enjoying the replies from anti-caption folks telling me they study/work w/ film before launching into why captions ruin film viewing because I guess that's supposed to legitimize their rationale?

PLOT TWIST: Read my bio 😊
Admittedly, that has only been like 1% of the responses (cuz most of y'all get it 👌🏾), but I'm still amused.
