1) Corbyn's Authoritarian Labour
Corbyn has quickly fired multiple frontbenchers in the name of collective responsibility, whenever they said "leaving the SM may not be such a great idea"
This despite him being one of the greatest rebels in the history of Labour
So,... Gardiner..
2) just before Gardiner dismissed the GFA as an outdated relic which was being overplayed, Owen Smith was fired for suggesting a #FinalSay on #Brexit would be a good idea.
Owen Smith was open about his comments.
Barry Gardiner was not.
3) firstly, he directed critics to his formal speech, in an attempt to direct people away from his comments following the speech, in which he twice refers to the GFA as an outdated relic ("shibboleth") which was being overplayed.

4) when the recording of his comments actually came to life however, he was forced to apologise. He also by the way apparently said the famous 6 tests were "bollox".
Most Labour party members would agree with Owen Smith's comments on #FinalSay
Most would be shocked by Gardiner's
5) Owen Smith's comments on a #FinalSay are in line with most progressive thinkers & the Labour membership
Gardiner's comments dismissing the GFA as unimportant are in line with Rees-Mogg and the #brexiter vandals on the far right
6)As popular as @OwenSmith_MP 's comments might be, both he & @BarryGardiner spoke against Labour party policy. Collective responsibility demands both be fired from the bench.

But only Smith gets fired.

Because Corbyn is not a "kindly uncle", he's a ruthless old authoritarian
(subscript)
Of course, the reality is here, Gardiner is actually just being honest, the real problem is Labour's dishonest #Brexit "policy".
The 6 tests are "bollox" if we leave the SM, and the Labour leadership doesn't actually put much stock in the GFA.
