It really seems like capitalism needs to make itself a better product if it’s going to survive in a competitive ideological marketplace.
Capitalism may have made a major blunder putting all its resources toward capturing 1% of the marketplace. It seems the other 99% are having a bad user experience and may be seeking other economic platforms.
Perhaps capitalism has grown complacent with its strong brand loyalty and tied itself overmuch to sunk-cost investments. Meanwhile, nimbler, more innovative ideologies, such as socialism and insane clown posse, are gobbling up top-of-mind market share w/the younger demographics.
Maybe younger people who have been living with a voracious and predatory capitalism will speak of that experience in similar tones to those who experienced Soviet era socialism, which is not history’s only example of socialism.
All is not list for capitalism. It still has amazing brand recognition, good positioning & infrastructure, and a large client base. However, it needs to develop a long-term strategy, and stop taking its customers for granted.

Or at least stop killing so many of them for money.
Correct.
I find it amusing that this thread has been taken as an attack on capitalism.

It's not.

It's simply an observation: by the rules of capitalism, capitalism is failing. It's made itself a bad product. Customers are abandoning it.
Anyone who would defend capitalism needs to first acknowledge this fact, just like any company who is being left behind in the marketplace needs to face the reasons that is happening rather than give in to denial.

Otherwise they'll keep trying what has already failed. And fail.
Pointing out that socialism in the USSR was terrible is not facing the fact that capitalism in 2018 is a bad product.

It's not relevant to the consumer.

Pointing out that Ford made a better car than Honda in 1960 doesn't get Ford anywhere, either.
Honestly, this might be the most capitalist thing I ever write.

If you want to defend capitalism from socialism, this is the prescription.
You can't deliver a capitalism that frequently says "and that's why your child has to die of a treatable disease."

I'll leave basic human decency out of it.

Let me put it in terms even a Republican will understand.

It's bad customer service.
You can't deliver a capitalism that says, "and that's why you'll be paying off the debt for the education you need to survive until you're 50."

Let's leave basic common sense priorities out of it.

It's bad user experience.

Capitalism is going to lose all its customers.
If you betray your customers' trust, you have ruined your brand.

Once you've ruined your brand, it's is insanely difficult to ever get it back. You might never do so.

Don't believe me?

Ask any capitalist.
