I actually disagree with several of these points here. Like, REALLY disagree.
Point 2. "...In consequence, it justly and rightly demands some sacrifice of individual impulse and idiosyncrasy." Fuck THAT. Individual impulse and idiosyncrasy is how real progress is created, it is called giving the individual autonomy. That is a requirement for a just system.
If you try to compromise or sacrifice that individual impulse and idiosyncrasy, you are taking away individual autonomy. No just system should ever treat that as a reasonable base to build from.
In fact, I find that stands DIRECTLY in contrast to point 10, "The government, local and distant, should leave people to their own devices as much as possible." I find this point FAR more agreeable. It is called the societal nonaggression pact.
The societal nonaggression pact is the implicit agreement we make as a society to leave each other the hell alone. Social pressure and the government are what should enforce this nonaggression pact.
But preemptively robbing an individual of "impulse and idiosyncrasy" is a preemptive act of aggression AGAINST that individual. Individual impulse and idiosyncrasy is not by definition a violation of the societal nonaggression pact.
It is not until an individual proves his impulses make him an aggressor that societal pressure and the government should step in to enforce the nonaggression pact. This better fits with the point that the government "should leave people to their own devices as much as possible"
Point 5 was worded strangely, until I realized what he was talking about. "socially useful and desirable duties" I BELIEVE implies teachers and the like. IE, teachers should be paid more. Hopefully this is coupled with raising the requirements and social status of teachers.
Right now, teachers are paid crap because they've lowered the requirements for teachers so far that ultimately anyone with a bachelors degree has the ability to teach at least SOME specific subject in school. This was done to meet a growing demand for teachers, but overshot it.
Now, combine the oversupply of teachers with teachers unions who are trying to create as large of a political force as possible, state-level school administrators who will spend hundreds of millions of dollars on anything BUT better teachers in exchange for kickbacks
And you see the problem we have with schools today. Raise the salaries to attract higher quality individuals, raise the requirements so that the higher quality individuals are guaranteed
Enact this solution through PRIVATE schools first, encourage and incentivize that model, and public schools will eventually adapt or find themselves losing ALL of their qualified teachers to better-paying private schools.
Sorry, sidetracked, moving on from that. Point 8, fuck that, fuck that SO HARD. "It is better to do what has always been done, unless you have some extraordinarily valid reason to do otherwise." FUCK. THAT.
The 'extraordinarily valid reason' caveat does not excuse the pants-on-head fucktarded segment that came before it.

Top innovations always come from OUTSIDE an industry. Innovation is the key ingredient of progress. Don't let progressives make progress a dirty word.
This is treading the same ground as the earlier "sacrifice of individual impulse and idiosyncrasy". Stop that. Stifling individual innovation and exploration of new processes is a direct assault on the societal nonaggression pact.
Point 9; "Radical change should be viewed with suspicion, particularly in a time of radical change." Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb. Social upheaval always brings change. Looking at the proposed change with a discerning eye is important, but...
... This is like saying "Wind should be viewed with suspicion, particularly during a tornado."

THIS IS A FUCKING STUPID MINDSET.

In Saudi Arabia, rapid change has happened seemingly overnight. A week ago the first theatre in decades opened. People of all ethnic groups, both genders, varying cultural norms, all came together like it was the most natural thing conceivable.
It took @Debradelai smacking me upside the head repeatedly until I saw that. Rapid social change had occurred within a larger sphere of rapid social change, and I was so obsessed with the individual changes that I didn't see that everyone in that picture seemed to LIKE the change
But @jordanbpeterson's 'Change should be viewed with suspicion during a time of change' mindset would have had people pushing back, slowing that change down.
Fuck. That.

I don't know how this guy ended up being some figurehead of 'conservatism', but these 12 theses he nailed to the door of his Twitter page need to be fucking ignored. He can believe them all he wants, but I will NOT abide by them, I will NOT operate under them.
Whatever high horse he climbed up on that makes him think he can lay out reactionary, constricting, suffocating principles like these he needs to just get right the hell off. Fuck Jordan Peterson. /end rant
