Lesson #2, "Keep Your Judges Apart" -- implementation of disinterestedness. Quarantine others from your beliefs. Conflicts of are contagious. Don’t infect the people you are trying to get high fidelity opinions with your opinions.

Lesson #5: "Keep Score" – hold intuition accountable. Memorialize predictions and go back to evaluate their accuracy so you are accountable to your decision process.

1/ I was looking through twitter today and saw how much people mistrust forecasts of the election. We are pretty bad at thinking probabilistically and it seems as if once a candidate is somewhere over 60% we default to assuming they are 100% to win
2/ so if they lose we declare the forecast (or the polls) wrong! This is, of course, aided and abetted by a lot of pundits. It’s very frustrating because I am not sure how we can fix the problem.
3/ Certainty is what people want. They don’t want to hear that one candidate is 25% and the other 75%. They want to know for sure. And the pundits are often more than happy to give them what they want, offering more certainty than the data offers.

Good article about #RescueOnFractalus, one of the first two games we created at #LucasfilmGames, and efforts for a fan-created modern version. In Finnish, but open in Chrome and ask for a translation. Mostly accurate telling of the game's history.
Some really minor inaccuracies: Loren Carpenter was never a member of Lucasfilm Games. Instead, Lucasfilm Games was originally a group within the Lucasfilm Computer Division where Loren worked, He was on loan to us part time during the early development.
It was George Lucas' idea that sometimes the pilot you're rescuing turns out to be an alien. We figured out how to make that happen, and got Atari to agree to keep it a complete secret in their marketing/box/manual text.

Good article, but Reason's subhead of "this is also known as socialism" is incorrect. This is known as FASCISM. Private industry exists but is directly controlled by politicians.
Socialism describes systems where various goods are declared positive "rights" and everyone is forced to pay for the cost. The government usually ends up administering the socialized services directly. The crudest and most common implementation is to tax the crap out of everyone.
Fascist systems put the government in charge of private industries that remain distinct from the state. The government doesn't "own" the means of production, but strictly controls it. The state is distinct from the private sector but absolutely supreme.
