1/ Blockchain financing and tokens are a huge decentralized force that seeps influence away from the Silicon Valley. In turn, Silicon Valley is surprisingly robust so far to this type of attack. Why?
/2 Because at the core Silicon Valley always worked as cooperative peer-2-peer network with a strong culture of assimilation.
/3 What happening right this moment is blockchain/token financing model is trying to "eat Silicon Valley", but instead of being eaten Silicon Valley simply loads crypto/tokens on top of existing p2p network of relationships (funds, startups, incubators, best GP-centered networks)
4/ There will be other power centers of crypto-economy (New York clearly becoming one of equal players), yet Silicon Valley adaptive network model all but guarantees it will stay an equal player in new model that is supposed to disrupt "old school" Sand Hill
/5 Instead all it achieves is morphing Silicon Valley into even more powerful hybrid token-equities monster with incredible pallete of tactical options for each point of fundraising spectrum. Incredibly #exciting_times!
/6 Make no mistake - there are/will be "dumb" funds and GPs who do not adapt fast enough or well enough to new reality, and will be eaten into irrelevance by next-gen razorfish.
/7 But even if 10-20% of current vintage of funds and GPs go away, that just like a snake shedding its used skin. The new token-equity hybrid core of "new Valley" is growing over just past 12 months with incredible speed.
