Judicial nominees are asked tough questions during the confirmation process—committing to the basic principle that racial segregation violates the Constitution isn't one of them. I call on my colleagues to reject the nominations of Wendy Vitter, Andrew Oldham&Michael Truncale.

Because of the #TrumpShutdown, 800,000 workers are not getting paid, but senior officials are receiving a raise? Utterly unfair & another insult to the hardworking men & women currently working w/out pay & forced to make substantial sacrifices while the gov't is closed.
Accepting these raises makes clear these “leaders” fail a basic tenet of leadership—putting what’s best for the group above one’s own self interests.
I will be donating my pay to Homes For The Brave until the shutdown is done. What will top Trump officials do with theirs?

Unacceptably missed deadlines! Lifesaving railroad technology—Positive Train Control—still lacking on almost all rail lines, despite Dec 31 deadline. FRA must hold them accountable with $27,904 per day fines if necessary.
Metro North's failure to meet the deadline for Positive Train Control is absolutely unacceptable. Requested delay to next year seems to put safety at risk, after repeated extensions.
Congress must be clear to rail companies: No more statutory extensions for Positive Train Control deadlines. Stiff fines & other penalties should be imposed for future failures. Rail safety is at stake.

Suppose that Article VI had a further Clause, Clause 4, that stated, “no racial identity shall ever be the basis for a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
Now, such a clause would prohibit the President from granting or withholding an office based on racial identity, and, in like vein, would prohibit the Senate from withholding consent to a nomination, or granting it, on the basis of racial identity.

Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on sexual harassment and misconduct in the federal judiciary is underway.

Sen. Grassley: "The judicial branch has a problem. They have to deal with it, or Congress will have to do it for the courts."
Earlier this month, the judiciary's workplace conduct working group released a series of recommendations for improving how the judiciary handles misconduct: uscourts.gov/news/2018/06/0… Grassley called it a "vague report" that "kicks the can down the road"
