Let me remind you what I know about the women/men who work as attorneys (and agents) at #DOJ, based on my 18 yrs as an Attorney there. Even if Rod resigns or gets fired, I am confident that career men & women (many of whom are on Mueller’s team) will manage to pull us through./1
1st: Rod & Mueller have a plan for if one or both get canned. Remember how Rod deftly went around Sessions and the WH to appoint Mueller way back in 2017? He is no dummy. And neither is Mueller or any member of his team. So remember they have a plan in place. That plan will /2
Involve preserving documents, emails, texts, etc. 2nd: The plan will involve FBI & Director Chris Wray, plus General Counsel Dana Boente. It’ll involve long-time career prosecutors like Scott Schools, who sits next to Rod. You can read here abt Scott. slate.com/articles/news_… /3
These folks - Wray, Boente, Schools, etc. are - like Rod - longtime career federal prosecutors who know (like many longtime career attys at DOJ) how to protect, defend, and promote principles of Justice because those goals have driven their own beings, identities, & values for /4
The majority of their own careers. What I can tell you from having recruited, interviewed & hired hundreds of attorneys & prosecutors over the years at DOJ is that they all have the same fire in their bellies that they want to do what is right, bring Justice, & serve Justice. /5
3rd: That Fire in the bellies of men like Wray, Rod, Schools, Boente, Mueller & his team, which includes long-time prosecutors, will be the precise reason the rule of law won’t be undone (eroded, yes), Trump & Team will go down 1 day, & Justice will prevail. It’ll get bumpier /6
To be sure. It may not be that these men & women end up being who will take Trump down. But they will get us as far as they can and then you know what? It will be up to me & you to be sure we follow their lead, with the fire in our own bellies, to vote, & flip Congress. /7
So when you see what horror happens next, make sure you take that horror & use it to drive you, your neighbors, your family, & even strangers to the polls in Nov. We have power left as U.S. citizens. It’ll be up to us to ultimately seal the deal these prosecutors have begun. END
