Ideally, once in safe zones, my teams would have set up camps and begun providing services (food, water, health, social).

Let me put this in even more stark terms. A war between #Nigeria 🇳🇬 and #Niger 🇳🇪 would tear apart Nigeria.

And that would disrupt 🇳🇬 oil shipments to the US 🇺🇸; which would then disrupt the 🇺🇸 economy (& the 2024 🇺🇸 election).

#Africa #ECOWAS #France Nigeria 🇳🇬 is a very large, diverse, and ultimately fragile country facing a host of internal & external challenges.

Asking the large numbers of Hausa people in the armies of both 🇳🇬 & 🇳🇪 to fight each other (based on a 🇳🇬 invasion) could trigger a 🇳🇬 army revolt.

I’m sorry, but the more I look into this #WagnerCoup mess, the more I smell a rat. A lot of things about this alleged “coup” simply don’t add up.

I’m beginning to think this is somewhere between geopolitical performance art and foreign policy head fake.

Prove me wrong. POINT 1:
Having lived through one violent coup d’état (plus experiencing a couple of revolutions and civil wars), I can tell you what *successful* coup plotters would NEVER do: publicly annonce that they are plotting a coup. 👈🏽
