The changes are already happening: all women shortlists, Girlguides, clothes shop changing rooms. They are happening in front of our eyes. Labour has specifically said that a decision to allow self identifying transwomen on AWS is a bid to "Get ahead of the law."

The push for reform to the GRA to remove all gatekeeping from the process of being recognised legally as ones preferred gender is being accompanied by a huge ideological assault on women's sex based exemptions, as enshrined in the Equality Act, and even the idea of women as a

distinct sexed category at all.

This statement that it is 'just about birth certificates' is so much sleight of hand. A gender recognition certificate changes the legal sex on your birth certificate. Once that is done there is no way of legally proving trans status. This will

make sex based exemptions unworkable on the ground.

So the claim that no changes are being made to the actual Equality Act are technically true, but self ID will make exemptions impossible to enforce, even where there are still organisations and services prepared to face off

incessant lobbying, harrassment, and bullying from transactivists.

All this 'nothing to see here, nothing to see here, look away, look away' is yet another attempt to ensure silence and compliance.

Women's rights are under attack. Please do not look away.

In the meantime, women wanting to talk about - and distribute information relating to - the destruction of women's sex based rights, are being threatened, abused, and terrorised. It isn't ok. None of this is ok.
