If it’s one thing I hate about the current times we are living in, it’s the need for attention. It’s why we have mass shootings and why we’ve seen a spike in school shootings. 24 hour news coverage of these events practically makes the perpetrators demigods. The next shooter
are almost always inspired by the actions of the previous one. We live in a time where one person filmed themselves eating tide pods for attention and no one thought “let me get this person some help” No! They thought “How can I top it” in order to get like and views on Social M.
Now think about why are kids shooting up schools? Hell I won’t even stop there, think about why do people in general commit mass shootings....currently? People are committing murders and are posting it online for the world to see in order to bring attention to themselves.
But our national news media is feeding into this culture of violence. The are all about ratings. Without having any facts, they report a lot of fiction. They then show the killers face a 100 times within 24 hours of the shooting and wonder why this keeps happening.
One of the Boston marathon bomber brothers was featured on the cover of rolling stone magazine looking like a rock star and not the monster he is. Again no one calls for a study into the culture of violence to figure out why people are committing these acts.
Some parents ignore their kids until they turn violent, but hey, lets blame an amendment that is as old as our country it’s self. If the good parents try to get their kids some help, then it’s the government who ignores the situation until it’s to late.
Instead of grants for powerful narcotics that turn people into zombies or make them more violent, how about we give grants for therapy to help young and old people deal with their psychological issues. Maybe try that instead of asking for #guncontrol.
How about we stop feeding this need for attention and creating this violent culture. It’s time to stop looking for the easy way out and start looking to tackle the tough issues. Let’s stop giving @CNN @FoxNews @MSNBC @ABC @CBSNews a story that they can exploit for their networks
As I’ve said in the past, I don’t own a weapon of war (referring to my AR-15) I own a #WeaponOfPeace. I will not let the conversation be about a lifeless tool anymore. This is about the culture of violence we have indulged in.
Violence doesn’t stop with legislation, it stops with understanding. Do not let career politicians get away with that line “if it saves one person, #gunsense is worth it” because these same people would never give their armed security who have “weapons of war” on them.
If these people want your vote, demand better from them. We have #GunControl since 1934 and it has not stopped the violence. It didn’t save one person, it left them more vulnerable. These people lie to us in order to bamboozle us into giving them power.
Well that’s my rant, have a good morning people. #DemandBetter.
