warning: libertarian ideas. contains facts likely to upset both the left and the right.

first the left:

the last 2 years have been all time records for federal income tax receipts.

this is in inflation adjusted dollars.

contrary to your beliefs, tax cuts did not drop revs.
now the right:

spending in FY 2019 was up massively and, for the first time, exceeded the 2009 kitchen sink of bailouts and pork year. you presided over it.

this is why we got a massive deficit

the US does not have a tax revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

there is no party of "fiscal responsibility" anymore. team elephant and team donkey both spend like drunken sailors on marseilles shore leave.

in fairness to both, most of this is baked into the system at this point.

entitlements are 70% of spending which = 87% of tax revenues

I am ecstatically delighted to say that I will be running as the @LibDems parliamentary candidate for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven, whenever the next election may be. Stopping the madness that is Brexit is absolutely a top priority for any Lib Dem candidate - but... 1/
It’s not the only reason that I am standing. Our country is struggling to find her place in the 21st Century. We have an antique voting system, which the Conservatives and Labour parties have selfishly kept alive for way beyond its use by date. 2/
I am in no doubt that if our electoral system reflected the views of the country more fairly, we wouldn’t be in the mess that we are today. People should never have to vote purely to spite the other candidate or have their vote interpreted as something it is not! 3/

Let’s talk about Boris

One of most disreputable, toxic, selfish politicians I’ve ever met. As Tories choose between British Trump & ex-Health Sec who’s mission was to destroy health service, let's remember why #Johnson is #UnfitForOffice
[Many threads]
2018: Letterboxes
Wrote that women wearing niqab looked like “letterboxes” & “bank robbers”; triggering attacks on our Muslim community, “letterbox” graffitied on homes, and giving racists new language in hate speech

#Johnson is #UnfitForOffice…
2008: “Blacks have lower IQs”
As editor of the Spectator he was responsible for - and clearly condoned - this racist drawl. He and his racist worldview has no place in Parliament, let alone @10DowningStreet

#ElizabethWarren's bill reminds me of Romney's advice to youths in 4/2012, "Borrow money, if you have to, from your parents. Start a business... [Jimmy John Liautaud] borrowed $20K from his dad..."

The loan was c. 7/82 and was actually $25K.
$25K in 7/82 = $59K in 4/12
In the first half of 2019, the nat'l average #rent increased by 2.6%.…
Warren declined to be interviewed for this story. In May, at request of media, her campaign released a summary of her outside work. As a senatorial candidate, Warren released a shorter version, which omitted her work for Dow Chemical.

A quick THREAD on the contradictions of the home office and @sajidjavid over the stripping of #ShamimaBegum's British citizenship.
It's a MUST READ to see just how @theresa_may's old department's #hostileenvironment appears to discriminate against BAME people... 1/n
So currently there are international laws which state that when a citizen commits a crime in a foreign country, that country has the right to deport the person to their home country. This is accepted, and not a contentious issue. 2/15
In fact, the British gov't loves using these powers.
It regularly deports British residents of Caribbean descent. People who moved to Britain as toddlers and have British kids have been taken away from their families and sent 'back' to the Caribbean. 3/15…

If it’s one thing I hate about the current times we are living in, it’s the need for attention. It’s why we have mass shootings and why we’ve seen a spike in school shootings. 24 hour news coverage of these events practically makes the perpetrators demigods. The next shooter
are almost always inspired by the actions of the previous one. We live in a time where one person filmed themselves eating tide pods for attention and no one thought “let me get this person some help” No! They thought “How can I top it” in order to get like and views on Social M.
Now think about why are kids shooting up schools? Hell I won’t even stop there, think about why do people in general commit mass shootings....currently? People are committing murders and are posting it online for the world to see in order to bring attention to themselves.
