1/ There's lots of confusion on nature of Ted Cruz, Goodlatte/Ryan proposals to "end family separations." Here's the fundamental truth: family separation stems from zero tolerance, which is discretionary Trump policy since April. The only way to end it is for Trump to end it.
2/ When all those who come to our border are prosecuted criminally and imprisoned, even for a short time, the kids become the responsibility of the federal government. These "fixes" are headline-grabbing and give Rs a place to stand, but let's not kid ourselves....
3/ Immigration legislation in an election year in a do-nothing Congress? Yeah, right. Trump and Miller torpedoed every good-faith, workable bipartisan solution to the Dreamer crisis they created. They aren't looking to solve this in Congress, they're looking to distract us.
4/ This is on Trump. He broke it, and yes, he alone can fix it. The fog machine is cranked up. The chaos and confusion are deliberate. The faux concern is vacuous. The solution is clear. One phone call, Trump to Nielsen. Period. The rest is bullshit.
