1/ Idea that the law requires zero tolerance and family separation = lie. Idea that only Congress can fix it = lie. The idea that the Trump administration's hands are tied = lie. The idea that there are no ways to ensure those with credible asylum claims show up = lie.
2/ The blackmail strategy is full display. Shock and awe, huger reaction and opposition, followed by "we want to change it" crocodile tears, followed by give us what we want or else. They did it on DACA and they're doing it on family separation.
3/ Fog machine on display on Capitol Hill, too. Cruz, Ryan "fix family separation" proposals = keep kids with their families by locking them up indefinitely in huge family gulags on the border until they're deported. As morally reprehensible as taking kids from their parents.
