Thread: Eid selfie, tabarruj and proper Hijab
Alhamdulillah alladhi bi ni'matihi tatimmus Salihaat: All praise be to Allaah through whose boon virtue sees completion and nobility sees culmination
The concern is whether the fasting person continues after Ramadaan to be as he was during Ramadaan, or is he “like her who undoes the thread which she has spun, after it has become strong” [al-Nahl 16:92]?
If a Muslim continues to have the patience to do righteous deeds after Ramadaan, this is a sign that his (fasting) has been accepted by his Lord, the Most Generous, the Bestower of blessings. Otherwise, it is a sign of humiliation and an indication that his deeds are handicapped
al-Hasan al-Basri said: “They were no longer of any significance to Allaah, so they committed sin. If they had mattered to Him, He would have protected them.”
Scholars said: Among the signs of acceptance (of good deeds) is that Allaah causes one hasanah (good deed) to be followed by another, for the hasanah says, “My sister, my sister!” And the sayi’ah (evil deed) also says, “My sister, my sister!” –we seek refuge with Allaah.
After d end of Ramadan, d people are divided into various types. But I'm focused on those that worshipped Allaah during Ramadan but are quick 2 return 2 their state of negligence&committing sins. Ramadan was like a prison 2 them hence d end marked their freedom 2 ff their desires
"How often has sin prevented a person from saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah when in the throes of death."
صلى المصلي لأمر كان يطلبه فلما انقضى الأمر لا صلى ولا صاما

“The worshipper prayed for something that he wanted, and when the matter was done, he neither prayed nor fasted.” [Arabic poetry]
Now back to the issue at hand, it is sad and very unfortunate to see how some of our dedicated sisters took to the path of Tabarruj (wanton display of their beauty) just barely 24 hours after Ramadan bade us farewell. What does this speak of our Ramadan worship?
Satan was lurking around the corner to attack us because we are exiting Ramdan full of spirituality and Satan steals nothing order than our spirituality. Hence, the urge to sin will be at its utmost but alas some of us were negligent of this fact and have fallen into Satan's trap
Again, the display of Sallah outfits and make ups by our sisters in Islam especially from the North is either out of ignorance or a slip on a slippery slope of Satanic ditch. Whichever one it turns out to be there's need for us to repent& delete those pictures before its too late
What about the brothers that stand as spectators showering these women with lovely and encouraging praises for sinning against Allaah...undoubtedly, they share in the blame because of the following hadith....

"If a sin is committed on earth, the one who witnessed it & hated it -- and one time he said, 'rebukes it'--is like one who was not present. And the one who was not present at the sin but is pleased with it is like one who was present (&did not repel it)." hasan (sahih Abi Dawud)
Oh Muslims, known that if a person sees evil around him and does not have much feeling or hatred in his heart for it, this is a sign that his heart is diseased. But when the heart does not longer cares about the evil that is around it, it is, in reality, a dead heart.
Undoubtedly, what our Muslim sisters do of taking Sallah selfie and displaying of their adornments is indeed evil for all purposes and intents. Which must be addressed so that they can understand the responsibility of being Aishas and Fatimahs
Ibn Mas'ud was once asked what is a dead heart and he answered, "The heart that does not recognize and like good and that does not reject and repel the evil."
It is sad today that we go through a serious inner battle to even recognize good as good and evil as evil such that writing on women taking selfie and displaying their adornment for every Bakar, Zaid and Amr will be seen by some of my fellow Muslims as extremism
What is being witnessed today of Sallah selfie is a shame and deviation from the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. Women, specifically putting on tight clothing, make-ups, perfume, and posting such on social media without any sense of modesty.
Qatadah said: (and do not Tabarruj yourselves like the Taburruj of the times of ignorance,) “When they go out of their homes walking in a shameless and flirtatious manner, and Allaah, may He be exalted, forbade that.”
The woman of today does not have to go out, she takes flirtatious pictures and post for all to see.
“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only what is apparent, and to draw their veils (khumurihinna) over their bosoms (juyûbihinna), & not to reveal their adornment except to their own husbands or fathers or husbands’..
or their sons or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers or their brothers’ sons or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigor, or children who know nothing of women’s nakedness.
The first point of contact btw a people is established by their mode of dressing It determines how they are viewed not only by outsiders but also by insiders. It equally defines how they view themselves. If our sisters view themselves with dignity they wouldn't display themselves
The law of modesty as enshrined in all major religions in the world, seeks to create a morally upright society by taming the lustful desire that exists between the opposite sex -man-and-woman and to produce pious people.
يا اختي لا ترفعي عنك الخمار فتندمي صوني جمالك ان اردت كرامة
Oh my sister, do not lift your veil
You will regret it

Preserve your beauty exclusively for your (spouse)
A woman’s mode of dressing is very important in Islam because of the position she occupies in the society: a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a symbol of respect that needs to be protected and respected. Thus, Islam prescribed Hijab for her
“Al-Ghulu’ fee al-Deen (Religious Extremism), Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Mutairi opined that the knowledge of the reality of things and correct perceptions are considered fundamental openings to the lessening or removal of differences of opinions.
Linguistically, Hijab is whatever that comes between two things. its plural is hujub as was stated by Ibn Mandhur in Lisan al-Arab that Hijab is; وكل ما حال بين الشيئين. Allaah, used it in its linguistic manner when He says: “….and between us and you is a screen (Hijab)” Q 41:5
The root word is hajaba which means (Hajb) to veil, cover, screen, curtain, partition, conceal, to disguise, to become hidden. Sadly, today, our sisters are becoming more apparent in their wanton display of beauty on all media platforms More painful is when it comes after Ramadan
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (jalaabib) all over their bodies. That will be better, so that they may be recognized (as free respectable women) and not annoyed. Allaah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” Qur’an 33:59.
The reality is that the sister that thinks that the accolade that comes her way after displaying herself for all to see is plus factor for her is mistaken, in fact, such accolades only speaks volume of how disrespectful you are treated
Lisan al-Arab “The jilbab is the outer garment, mantle, or cloak. It is derived from d word tajalbaba, which means to clothe. Jilbab is d outer sheet or covering which a woman wraps around her on top of her garments to cover herself from head to toe. It hides her body completely”
While, Khimar comes from the word khamr, the root meaning of which is to cover. Everything that covers something else is called its khimar. Imam Abu’l-Fida ibn Katheer said: “Khumur is the plural of khimar which means something that covers, and is what is used to cover the head."
Al-Qurtubi said: “Women in those days used to cover their heads with the khimar, throwing its ends upon their backs. This left the neck& the upper part of the chest bare, along with the ears, in the manner of the Christians. Then Allah commanded them to cover those parts....”
Ibn Abdul Barr said in d 8th vol of al-Istidhkaar that “Any garment that shows the shape&does not conceal, it is not permissible to wear it under any circumstances, except with another garment that does conceal&does not show the shape, for the one who wears it is in effect naked
Even in the bible the issue of dress code in accordance with the natural laws of modesty were addressed. For example,1 Corinthians 11:5-10 – New International Version (NIV), and in the first Epistle of Paul to Timothy and other places, women are commanded to cover themselves.
Oh! beloved Muslim mothers, wives, sisters and daughters, understand what Hijab is from the Shari’ah perspective and not what the modern society portrays as Hijab.
Hijab is not just having a veil over the head while wearing tight garments that reveal the shape but Hijab is wearing lose, unattractive, thick and modest garment that covers a woman’s body completely without revealing the shape of her body parts.
I pray with all humility and sincerity to Allaah, to soften the hearts of our beloved Muslim women into wearing the proper Hijab.
“It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in to a plain error.” Qur’an 33:36
