Second day in a row that Paul Manafort has lost a motion filed in his DC case: Judge denied his request to dismiss the money laundering conspiracy charge and the forfeiture allegation that goes with it assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4551… 
Background: Manafort is charged with conspiring to move money in and out of the US to conceal profits from his work in Ukraine (remember the alleged rug purchases?) and promote and support criminal activity — in this case, failing to register as an agent for a foreign entity
Manafort argued that a FARA violation is just about the act of registering as an agent, not actually *acting* as an agent, so the financial transactions laid out in charging papers couldn't have promoted the FARA violation
But the judge said the FARA statute *is* about acting as an agent — it says no one "shall act as an agent of a foreign principal" without registering; thus, she found that the $$ transactions at issue could "promote," and Manafort could get "proceeds" from, a FARA violation
