I didn’t know these facts for certain, so I figured I would do a little research on my own. I don’t expect Trump die-hards to change their minds bc I linked to a Brookings Institute paper, but I think all these facts don’t get publicized enough.
We all know the lies about immigrants bc they get plenty of exposure, & lots of people take them as common knowledge. More reasonable people should know the truth about immigrants & immigration. It’ll help. It has to.
Our current status quo demands that everyone seeking office, both GOP & Dem, has to make noise about “being tough on illegals.”...
...So our collective susceptibility to nativist disinformation rewards candidates who are against the inclusion of a populace...
... that give more than they take, follow the law better than people who are already here, and contribute to the economy by actually creating jobs and boosting demographics. That’s crazy, and it’s gotta change.
