It’s best I use this medium to educate Nigerians including those serving in Govt. In a country where ignorance is bliss & ineptitude is celebrated, there is no way impunity will not be the culture of misfits occupying positions based on their connection to certain elements.
If we can cure our leaders of their ignorance since their hirelings in positions of authority are too focused on keeping their jobs than telling the truth for posterity sake, we may heal faster. This is not about politics but about the inevitable if this trajectory persists.
Policing in Nigeria has been totally misconstrued. I should know since I have studied the architecture for years on my terms, which I must confess is shameful to say the least by the way, as balkanized and abused by ethnic brigades and cronies being rewarded with Critical seats.
We don’t even have a Federal Police. We have a NIGERIA Police meaning, an institution (hub of monopoly of violence) managed by the IGP, Controlled by the President, supported by the Police Service commission (PSC) and the Governors in denial.
The Governors will forever claim they have no Powers over the police yet they influence the posting of Police commissioners to their state and receive Security Votes they can’t account for. Until our advocacy, the Minister of interior wasn’t even a member of the PSC.
When the President drafted the Police under the ministry of interior it was a mere political pronouncement without an effective legislative impact. The Minister was impotent as per disciplining, promoting, training or even vetting the activities of the IGP.
Suffice to say the IGP was an Executive in his own State of Chaos that controls the Monopoly of Violence. Unfortunately for us, they inherited a Militarized system where SARS has been weaponized against the people. Governors will onlook, Members of parliament will play dead...
...why you may ask? They are all part of the problem. The dearth of political will to demilitarize the police stems from the political opportunity that are abound. Especially in a country where we Politicize Criminality & Govt ignore the “Astynomicide” Of security institutions. 
You wonder why Government flout the provisions of the constitution yet pontificate “Every individual is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person, and accordingly, no person shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment.” – Section 34 (1)
The president already sent forth VP Osinbajo to Jos, if not for the clamor and intervention of well meaning Patriots the President wouldn’t have embarked on that trip. We don’t care who gets the credit just prioritize National Security is all we asked against Regime Security.
The political pronouncements will not fly. Here is the proposal sent to them at the beginning of their tenure to reposition the non existent Homeland Security architecture but it was ignored because some people are protecting their own interest. It goes deeper than SARS.
If some elements think they can use a dumb political pronouncements to score cheap points for 2019, they had better think again. #EndSARS #ReformPoliceNG is clear and belongs to the people. You can’t tool it for political gains. @BBCAfrica
The route where innocent citizens were murdered in Jos is a route @alouibrahim92 and I as well as many others have travelled through on our way from Bauchi before this administration. Things are not the same now security wise. It could have been anyone, it’s a lonely route.
Our leaders know what to do if they really want to prioritize National Security but will they do the needful? Are the lives of Nigerians worth enough weight to begin to assent to genuine counsel towards peace and progress? 🤔
