... compelling evidence emerged that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross not only lied in his confirmation hearings but may have engaged in insider trading while in office
... finally, Scott Pruitt still has a job even after it emerged that he used his office to try and get a job for his wife at Chick-fil-A. This is not to mention that more than dozen other scandals about Pruitt that have been reported on the past several weeks
... and yet Pruitt is still at the EPA, Ross is still at Commerce and the Trump Foundation story faded from press coverage within about 24 hours.
... quite simply we have an executive branch and a president who are not in any serious way being held accountable for their repeated violations of the public trust and illegal behavior. Corruption, self-dealing, and regular abuses of power have become completely normalized
... oh and I didn't even mention that the president is under criminal investigation for colluding with a foreign govt to win the presidency; has almost certainly obstructed justice & yet Congress will likely gleefully confirm his nomination for a lifetime position on SCOTUS
... if this were happening in any other country we'd say that representative democracy barely exists there. Well guess what, representative democracy and political accountability barely exist in America today
