Here are some tips I've developed over the years on how to feel JOY in your life...
People ask me about money so often, but the truth of life is this - all that’s ever going to bring you joy - or steal joy from you - are the things you do, and you can’t “do” money.
For most people, myself included, the structure of your life, and the goals that you have for yourself, don’t allow every minute of your day to be filled with just the fun stuff.
But here’s the key - you need at least one goal that you’re really focused on that is out and out joyful to execute against.
Grinding isn’t fun when what you’re working towards is just checking a chore off the list of must-dos.
If you don’t yet have a goal that excites you, and you want a joy starter kit, let me suggest the following:
1. First thing in the morning, spend at least 30 minutes doing something you love. Frivolous is absolutely ok, as long as it’s fun as hell. You may find this helps you bound out of bed as well - knowing you have something to look forward to.
2. Learn one fact about a topic you love.
3. Share what you learned with your best friend.
4. Text one person a day with a super heartfelt message about why you think they’re rad.
5. Right before you go to bed, really think about three things that you’re grateful for. Let yourself actually feel the emotion.
Let that practice remind you how important and impactful joy in doing really is. Then, once you get the taste for that, begin to build your entire life around the pursuit of joy rather than the pursuit of money.
When you’re doing things that you love doing, your net worth is absolutely inconsequential.
