This sort of blew my mind. Hand-welds on Saturn V O-ring, like a stack of dimes. Hundreds of these on a single engine. Hats off to our Space Race welders.

This Day in Labor History: December 28, 1973. Astronauts at Skylab go on strike in space! Yes, space has a labor history! Let's talk about this unusual strike.
NASA launched Skylab in 1973 to great fanfare but it had a lot of problems from the start, with the spaceship damaged upon takeoff, requiring two missions just to make it habitable.
It was not intended for long-term usage, so the third mission was extremely important as it was the last one scheduled before Skylab was ended as a experimental station.

1 Jan - New Horizons probe to fly past Ultima Thule, a Kuiper Belt object, dating from the formation of the Solar System

Feb -  LIGO and Virgo gravitational waves detectors to come back online  after a long upgrade..
...They'll surely spot more gravitational waves washing over Earth, giving us insights into distant cataclysmic events in the universe

March
Manned US spaceflights are getting closer! Boeing CST-100 Starliner will launch into orbit – unmanned tho for now
June
Elon Musk's SpaceX may have its 1st manned spaceflight - yay!

July
Nasa to test Orion spacecraft & European Service Module as one unit, preparing for an uncrewed spaceflight - 1st time that Nasa will use a system built in Europe!

Rovers had been planned for the surfaces of other planets since the early 1950s but it wasn’t until the Soviet Union launched Luna 17 carrying the Lunokhod 1 rover on 10th Nov 1970 that this became a reality.

Lunokhod means “moonwalker” in Russian. There were two Lunokhod rovers launched in
1970 and 1973 respectively and were the first remote controlled rovers on the moon. It wasn’t until 1997 than another rover (Mars Pathfinder) was placed on an extraterrestrial body.

Vice President Mike Pence, with NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, will visit NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston Thursday, Aug. 23, to discuss the future of human space exploration and the agency’s plans to return to the Moon as a forerunner to future human missions to Mars.
The event will be held at 12:45 p.m. CDT in the Teague Auditorium at Johnson and will air live on NASA Television and the agency’s website.
