...rediscovered by Tacoma WA band Rockin' Robin Roberts & the Wailers a few years later...
and became a staple of Pacific NW bands like Paul Revere & the Raiders, and the Kingsmen, who had the biggest hit with it in 1963. The Sonics' 1966 cover of it takes it into pure fuzztone necksnapping greatness
