When we aggressively punish failure but don't also incentivize success to the same degree, we are actively discouraging leadership. I think this is a special form of loss aversion. People won't remember the kudos for the right, but will remember the lashings for the wrong. 1/n
A lot of decision paralysis comes from the fear of being wrong. If I do nothing and things fall apart, at least I wasn't involved. If I do something and things go right, I might get a small bonus. If I do something and things go wrong, I risk being fired. 2/n
If you're in a leadership position, lead. And encourage those below you to lead too. We have the word "risk" in our language because most decisions aren't a "sure thing." You'll win some, you'll lose some. Leadership incurs risk, but it's risk you should be comfortable with. 3/3
