Here is the fundamental problem of Boot/Rubin/Frum wing.

THERE IS NO WING.

Because they largely have given up on being principled conservatives, unsurprisingly...conservatives aren't listening to them anymore.

Hard to have a following when you give up on your central beliefs.
If their argument was "Look, Trump is undermining conservatism, and so, this is how we further the conservative cause..." they might have more people listening.

But their screeching has turned into "We don't care about conservatism anymore, because TRUMP!"

Which...yeah.
You want to convince conservatives to turn away from Trump?

Give them an alternative path to advance conservatism that doesn't involve him.

This is a good lesson for Republicans, but they never learn it.

In 2009-2010, when many of us conservative health wonks (especially people like @Avik ) tried to get GOP to coalesce around a plan to pass in the future...they basically took a pass.

That is one reason GOP failed.
The GOP remains completely incompetent and inept when it comes to long term policy strategies, and health care is the prime example.

If you want to know why they failed on repealing Obamacare, start with their actions in 2010.
Sound govt policy (conservative, liberal, or otherwise) takes time to grow and evolve. The GOP never bothered to really have a debate on what 'conservative health care' looked like.

So when Trump came along, the GOP was caught flat footed. And thus, were bound to fail.

On this #VeteransDay2018 ...short rant on the Veterans Administration...and its continued failures to our military veterans.
In August 2014, with much press celebration, Obama signed a bill (with the support of John McCain) that purported to fix the major deficiencies within the VA.

I was highly critical of the bill at the time, and I think history has proven I was right.

The bill increased funding for the VA, was supposed to enforced timely care for Vets, and increased funding for mental health and sexual abuse.

Powers he had earned refused to come to him, Auril, it seemed, had no more use for him. After all he had failed her. He stumbled and felt one of his nearly closed wounds split open. He felt his life ebbing as his sight became naught but swirling ice and darkness.
He stumbled in the ever growing drifts of snow, his limbs becoming numb. He pushed on against his failing body until he felt some of the snow give way accompanied by a crash. He fell and tumbled into an unseen cave. His body, once numb, was ablaze in agony.

They try to get a CAT to Bark. Let me explain..
People use laser-targeting.

They say "I know, with 100% certainty, that this small group of people that I have put in my audience, are EXACTLY who I want to target."

They proceed to layer, upon layer, further focusing on this small group of people.
The ads work for a few days....then they start to break.

Costs go through the roof.

Facebook stops delivering traffic to the ads (CPM soars).

Then, they repeat this process over and over "I guess my ads just needed to be refreshed"

Someone tweeted to me last night about our need of a healthy two party system, and I was already agitated from the long move and seeing stupid tweets from people defending legalized lynching so I did not want to rudely clap back on that tweeter due to that. /1
But I did want to eventually respond to my thoughts on anyone who claims to want change after Trump who still believe in the Republican party, conservative agenda Pre Trump. Or the remnants of fossilized dust that will hopefully be the only thing left after this mess. /2
I get the feeling said tweeter has never been apart of Marginalized America. Like many new to this whole "resistance" thing. She is upset that we have such a rude boorish oaf in the White House. But she still fails to understand what exactly is the issue with the GOP. /3

Here’s the fundamental problem with trying to regulate all tokens as securities: it’s an attempt to regulate a technology rather than use of the technology. Regulation should target the conduct of people using the technology in any given context, to reduce harm caused by misuse
If a token is sold as an investment, it should be regulated like an investment, in that context. If the token is later used as payment, it should then be regulated like a means of payment. If a token is used to trade collectibles, then it might not need to be regulated at all
This isn’t a new concept. ISPs, media orgs, social networks, e-commerce sites and regular people all use the internet, but the way they are regulated is very different and depends on what they actually use the internet for
