lol buddy you chose the wrong book to pretend to have read
while shirer criticizes the KPD he never argues that they were mistaken in fighting the nazis in the streets. to the contrary he describes the street battles as a huge embarrassment for the nazi party that frightened their wealthy backers and contributed to the purge of the SA
he does, however, have quite a lot to say about the economics of the nazi policy. he tears into the man who coined the term "national socialism" as a crank who had no idea what socialism was, and points to hitler's ridiculous personal definitions of "socialism"
he interviews walther funk, the reich economic minister from 1938 to 1945. this would lay to rest the whole "nazis were socialists" thing except that nobody promoting the idea gives a shit about actually reading history.
he also provides a lot of the earliest and most thorough evidence of the massive support hitler received from the rhineland industrialists and conservative capitalists, and states that the party almost went bankrupt and collapsed before industrialists paid off their debts
also this part should be pretty obvious but since this person is pretending to have actually read the book i'll show a couple of the times where shirer explicitly calls the people who put hitler in power "conservatives"
plus this special bonus section for neera tanden, in which he states that the centre party was already trying to negotiate forming a cabinet with hitler at its head and just got beaten to the punch by the nationalists
