An article about playing baseball with actual information about playing baseball! espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…
I am a one sport fan, but in my experience baseball journalism is unique in its paucity if information about how the game is actually played: tactics, techniques, strategies.
Instead we get a constant repetition of cliches: “timely hitting.” keep the line moving,” “he’s seeing the ball well,” “the pitcher had good stuff.”
People get paid lots of money and devote their lives to beating other smart dedicated professionals at this game! They must know something about it that I don’t!
For example, I have been a fan for more than 4 decades, and just found out - today! - that MLB players can’t in fact aim a batted ball. Despite all those color commentators saying otherwise.
