Here's my tweet from two months ago saying "Maria Butina [is] about to become a major focal point" of Mueller's investigation. As I noted, the charge against her and any upcoming charges against Torshin will—like much else (e.g. Friday's DCLeaks revelations)—burn Trump Jr. first.
2/ Today's unsealed charge and the way the Friday indictment was handled suggest that Donald Trump Jr. is in as much legal jeopardy right now as Stone is. Remember that Trump Jr. repeatedly committed crimes in testifying to Congress by lying to them about matters big *and* small.
3/ NB: The tweet I'm RTing now was part of a May 2018 AMA in which I was asked if Sheriff David Clarke would be indicted. I was saying Trump Jr. would be "burned first" by the Butina and Torshin evidence Mueller has—and I wasn't sure if Clarke would at any point be touched by it.

Per CNN reporting just now, William Barr before today told the White House that he would be bringing in his own Deputy Attorney General if confirmed, so the news that Rosenstein will step down if Barr if confirmed should not have led to *any* of the hysteria it seems like it has.
2/ Rosenstein previously said he'd serve two years—so his departure around now isn't surprising anyway, and (in fact) will make it easier for him to coordinate with Mueller as a witness rather than a supervisor. Too many people are reading way too much into his pending departure.
3/ I'll go further: Rosenstein is friendly with Barr, used to work with him, and recommended him for the Attorney General spot—all of which indicates that his comfort level with Barr taking over the Mueller probe has *nothing* to do with an assessment of when that probe will end.

@ZevShalev @TheAtlantic 3/ A reasonable conclusion: after he and Flynn left the room the CIA briefed them in on August 17, 2016, Trump realized that it was entirely possible Manafort's contacts with the Russians had been picked up by American intelligence, and he could therefore no longer work with him.

1) falsely requiring a single Hollywood-style "smoking gun" on collusion
2) reporting breathlessly on a revelation anyone in Hollywood would call a smoking gun (Manafort's delivery of data to the Kremlin)
3) pretending we're still looking for collusion
2/ I mean wow, it's almost like Donald Trump calls media his greatest enemy when it's in fact a stalwart ally, and media claims to be looking as hard as it can for collusion when in fact it just wants to keep us *watching* its "search" for collusion as America goes down the drain
3/ And somehow it's now been a *year* I've been trying to call media's attention to a January '18 NBC report saying Trump thinks Manafort could sink him, which any attorney or journalist would consider key evidence Trump in fact *did* know what Manafort was up to with the Kremlin
