My Very Slow project. Merino fleece I bought from Starshire Ranch in eastern WA (Thor is the sheep’s name) — what’s here is only about an eighth of the entire fleece. This batch is washed, and now I’m flick-carding individual locks, and then spinning them.
The slow speed is a feature, not a bug — while spinning is very anxiety-reducing for me always, the deliberate slow pace of this one, combined with the feel of the lanolin on my hands, is extra peaceful.
But it’s also varied: I flick card three or four locks, then I spin, and repeat. It doesn’t feel that slow — I spun a surprising amount in 20 minutes last night. Thor, yer all right.
