So, since we're on the topic of triggers and mental health, how about we clearly define them.

A trigger requires 2 components:

An uncontrollable reaction to a stimuli.
And
The reaction is debilitating.

Trigger jokes throw that second part out the window.
They also often times mock the first part, as it's often times little things that remind a patient of trauma that cause the reaction.

Sometimes it's being off balance just wrong, bright lights, certain sounds in just the wrong tone range. These are not controlled responses.
Have forewarning can minimize the reaction, this is why trigger warnings exist. They used to be "content summaries" which have been around forever.

Making light of these situations makes people with triggers feel stigmatized as well as makes my job more difficult
How do you communicate the seriousness of a situation to a patient when they're under the assumption that triggers are a silly "SJW" thing?
