A very successful Council of Federations in St. Andrews, NB. We agreed to join SK in the fight against the federal carbon tax. We also joined QC and MB in agreement that the Federal Government should pay all costs associated with illegal border crossers.

The size of the federal $$ cheques going to households will surprise you, and change the tone of this debate.

We will be hearing more about the precise details for the design and refund cheques for the federal carbon tax backstop this fall.

If I were a betting man, I'd guess that the first round of cheques will go out before anyone in SK or ON pays a dime of carbon tax. Just a guess.
So if you are a provincial or federal party looking to incite populist protest against the federal carbon tax backstop in 2019, you should realize you'll be cancelling thousands of dollars if refund cheques going directly from federal coffers to families.

3/ The current manu of the present manvantara is Shraddhadeva or Vaivasvata Manu of this current Kalpa. He is the son of Vivasvat (Probably Surya) and is therefore also known as Manu-vaivasvata.
