People who take the dossier seriously don’t seem to notice the obvious pattern: for many major & outlandish claims (like Page-Rosneft), Steele only “reports” it after a “publicly available” predicate has emerged. In short, Steele’s “sources” were great at reading newspapers.
Guess when Steele says there was quid pro quo over Ukraine platform? AFTER a (massively overblown) story in WP from @joshrogin . Or that Page met w/ officials in Moscow? AFTER it gets reported that Page was in Moscow. Or that a Rosneft stake was on market? AFTER it gets reported.
In short, I’d bet on it that Steele’s sources used their reading skills, and then their imaginations. That’s the “spycraft” behind the dossier.
Oh ps: guess what doesn’t show up in Steele’s dossier: oh, only George Papadopoulos, the Trump Tower meeting, the failed Trump Moscow deal. Can anyone guess what they all have in common? They all had taken place by then - but weren’t public in the news yet when Steele wrote it!🤔
