The more I think about this, the angrier I become.

Innocence Tax? Silence
Legal aid slashed? Silence
Endemic disclosure failure? Silence
Innocents in prison? Silence
Victims failed? Silence
CPS & police on their knees? Silence
Courts closing? Silence

Now they care about justice
I was at my character limit in that tweet. I would have liked to add quotation marks around “care about justice”. Because of course, as their voting records clearly show, they don’t.
Destruction of Probation? Silence
Violent understaffed prisons? Silence
Inadequate forensic science? Silence
Overlisted courts? Silence
Delays for victims? Silence
Underfunded CCRC? Silence
Collapsing courtrooms? Silence
Unlawful Tribunal fees? Silence
No disabled court facilities? Silence
No compensation for the wrongly convicted? Silence
Sausage factory magistrates’ courts? Silence
Interpreter chaos at court? Silence
Private contractors failing to bring prisoners to court? Silence

“Enemies of The People”? Cheers.
This is not Whataboutery. It is an essential point. If, as @SarahVAtDSC says below, you only care about justice when it affects your pal or chimes with your political preferences, you do not care about justice at all. You are the most venal of hypocrites.
Yesterday the Justice Committee published a report concluding:

“The under-funding of the criminal justice system in England & Wales threatens its effectiveness, and in doing so undermines the rule of law and tarnishes the reputation of the justice system as a whole.”
What did you say about this, @patel4witham? Where was your support for justice, @NadineDorries? Why the silence, @lucyallan? And every other MP who has been gleefully crowdfunding for Mr Grimes’ cause, what have *you* said about the crisis in our justice system? Anyone?
Sorry, but my dander is up now and I am unspeakably angry. The self-interest and base amorality of these individuals makes me want to scream. Having been elected to represent our interests, they have sat back and watched justice being cleaved through the bone. Now they speak up.
Did any of you cheerlead a crowdfunder for this GP, who was falsely accused and lost his life savings because of your Party’s law depriving innocent people of their legal costs?

Anyway, no matter how much I tweet on this subject I’m not going to exhaust my fury. And there’s enough of that on Twitter anyway. And it’s Friday. So I’m off. Here are some reminders that there’s some good in this world:
