If you don’t live in Zimbabwe, you have no right whatsoever to tell people to accept election results and move on. You’ve no idea how early they wake up to queue for money in banks, which is mostly $20-30, in coins.
You have no clue about the livelihoods and relationships which have been irreparably broken, the funerals, graduations, weddings which people have missed because they live oceans apart.
You have no idea how many people go to bed on empty stomachs, the thousands who go to bed every single night not knowing where the next meal will come from, or if their children will be able to go back to school.
You have no idea how much people’s dignity has been stripped away from them, the kinds of jobs have they had to do, just to scrap by.
Today, many families do not know where their loved ones are buried, or if they are even still alive, many have been violently displaced, some at this very moment, people are already being attacked for their political choices. Just a day after announcement of results
So give Zimbabweans a moment to cry over yet another moment of false hope which promised so much but did not deliver anything, despite them showing up in numbers to vote for a better Zimbabwe.
If you’re an economic refugee, as many Zimbabweans abroad are, please sit down. while you enjoy service delivery, a functional public transport system, and are not under threat from a violent government, people this side need to time to come to terms with this charade.
And they certainly do not need your condescending appeals for peace while ignoring the blantant miscarriages of justices which many have had to come to terms with too many times.
