Information reaching me now is that Lee can now climb our freezer. That freezer is almost 3-feet tall. Nothing is safe again.
This phase of parenting is hard. I'm currently at the shouting phase. "Stop that." "Get down from that place." "No, drop it." "You can't have it. Drop it NOW!!!" " Don't climb the dinning." "Stop splashing water everywhere." "Lee, can you just relax?"
Now watching Peppa Pig.

I think my dad finally understands what I do for a living. I think. It took 10 years, but I am glad we are here. I also used the opportunity to educate in on how card payment works. It finally made sense to him. Next up; my father in-law.
I think the clincher was explaining to him how I pay for airline tickets. This also reinforces the belief that complex concepts can be made simpler if you can relate it with everyday life.
I think it was also a learning opportunity for me as I struggled to come up with an analogy that made the most sense. It was an opportunity to explain how the PAN, CVV, PIN and OTP all come together to enable a successful transaction.

#1 I'd visited Chennai few weeks back, most of the elders are staying alone & managing life w/o their kids.
Prosperity pushed their kids away abroad.
I met an 80 yr old single grandpa who lives alone in T'vannamali, as his son is a US citizen.
#2 The elders just wait for their kids to call, & kill off loneliness watching serials.
The pattern of desertion is mostly seen from those who climbed from lower middle class to get a green card. The greed to make more money never ends, & the thought to return never comes.
#3 The ones who return home, that I have seen, are mostly from the upper middle class, who get disillusioned with the mechanical life abroad. They miss the home atmosphere & the emotional touch. They're okay to settle for lesser pay, put up with poor infrastructure.

Some Nine World's stuff worthy of a read.
One of the reasons why the 9W stuff is interesting to me is partly due to how it all turned out, what they achieved and the hardships they faced and also partly because I could see Kitacon going the same route and facing the same challenges.
Obviously I'm keen to avoid the pitfalls others have made in order to maintain a strong event and team but I can't help be worried about the geek/nerd communities being swallowed up by non caring events worried only about their bottom line.
