But even highly experienced genital reconstruction surgeons like Dr. Curtis Crane--who "spent 20 years training in the U.S and abroad, acquiring penis-making skills that have won him a global following" (Bloomberg, 2015)--have had their fair share of botched surgeries.

No mention of this from mainstream or LGBT journalists.
And yet, according to the Bloomberg article (headline screen captured above, behind a paywall), Dr. Crane's practice couldn't keep up with demand for phalloplasties. So he kept training more surgeons in his techniques.

I'm really tired of people chastising parents, accusing us of not allowing our kids to "explore their gender." Like it's a wonderful journey, so special and full of sparkles and rainbows.

Well, my daughter "explored her gender" for a while and was absolutely miserable. /1
Not because I was restricting her in clothing, haircuts, or interests. (I didn't.) But because she got the idea in her head (thanks Tumblr) that testosterone would make her feel better. And I said, "Hold on, let's think things through." /2
The gender journey stressed her out. Lots of Tumblrites tell of the importance of becoming your "authentic self"by transitioning, warning that otherwise you'll be miserable for the rest of your life and will likely kill yourself. /3

The Commons will vote on 11th December on the PM’s withdrawal agreement and future relationship framework.

After that, House is due to sit on the 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th - six sitting days until Christmas recess.

The Commons returns on 7th January.
According to @commonslibrary if the PM’s Brexit motion is voted down, the government is required to make a statement about it’s intentions within 21 days.

There will only be six sitting days left to do that. January will be too late.
And within seven sitting days, Parliament has to vote on a motion based on the government’s stated intentions.

Ten years later, Shyla is almost close to realising her father’s dream. She is doing her nursing course, and she needs help. As a society that sent her father down the sewers, I think it is our responsibility to see that she becomes a nurse.
When I met her again last month, Shyla was exuding confidence. “I will soon be a nurse and if you need anything, call me over” she told me and i cant wait.
Shyla’s course fee for third year comes close to Rs 1 lakh. I already have someone pledging Rs 10,000.

1. A good place to start is to think about births - a pretty good indicator of whether a country represents a hospitable environment.

The UK population increases by around 800,000 births each year.
2. Those arriving are balanced to a large extent by those departing and the UK has around 600,000 deaths each year ATM.
3. Which means that the UK has an internal population growth rate of about 200,000 per annum (births less deaths). This rate of growth increased from around 100,000 to 200,000 between 2002 - 2007 & it's remained pretty constant since.

That's +1 million every 5 years.
