It's not exactly "recanting" to change your position on something you had no personal knowledge of in the first place, but still clarifying on the Jim Jordan story:

My general sense has been that both Jordan's critics & defenders are overselling their case, when the real debate is woulda coulda shoulda arguments - about responsibility and attentiveness - from circumstantial evidence that are unlikely to be resolved with smoking guns.
Put another way, the Jim Jordan story is never gonna be "he knew A, B, C, and D" vs "he did not know A, B, C, or D." It was always gonna be "he knew A and B, he should have troubled himself to learn C and D." But that's not as sexy a slogan.

People forget this now, but even in the Bush years, TWS' identification with John McCain made it an uneasy ally at times of Team W. In August 2001, it called on Don Rumsfeld to resign in protest over the defense budget being too small.

1. The latest hit job on @EWErickson is best understood as an effort to get mainstream outlets to blackball him. That raises an important point about civility, reasoned discourse, & how the enemies of the latter use the former as a cudgel.
@EWErickson 2. Civility is important; it's a virtue, though not an overriding one. But there are problems with policing civility. One, it's a word with varied meanings, so it's easy to accuse ideological enemies of offenses against civility.
@EWErickson 3. Two, people who regularly write and speak provocatively about ideas & events can easily be cherry-picked at their roughest moments - convicted of flourishes as if that's their daily output.

1. George H.W. Bush's strongest suit as president was the deep experience, judgment, knowledge, contacts, and yes, prudence, that he brought to the role of Commander in Chief. Poster boy for the value of experience.
2. HW's weakest point as president was his lack of vision, philosophy, or constancy in domestic policy, as well as lacking the gift for communications to cover for that. Of course, he had less party support in Congress than all but a few presidents.
3. HW also came after 8 years of Reagan picking the low hanging policy fruit, so it was harder for him to build an obvious domestic agenda.

It's important to look at the decision in itself. Even if you think it violates precedent, and therefore is hypocritical, it may be that the previous decisions were the wrong ones and shouldn't be repeated.
For example, if I used to throw my trash out the car window, arguing that it kept prisoners busy doing litter pickup, that's clearly stupid. If I now know it's dumb and stop doing it, that is a greater good than my being consistent by still doing it.

Trump has repeatedly mused about breaking up NAFTA into two separate deals, but this is the first time he has suggested he wants to deal with Mexico first and Canada second. As always, not clear if it means something or if he's just saying stuff. NAFTA talks continue.
Earlier today, Trump’s top economic adviser Larry Kudlow also reported progress with Mexico, and he repeated his criticism of the press conference where Trudeau criticized Trump’s tariffs, saying it was a press conference Trudeau “never should have given.”

This is Hebron in the West Bank.
Hebron is the home of one of Islam's holy sites, the Ibrahimi Mosque.
It also happens to be a Jewish holy site named after Abraham as well.
