this is a grossly irresponsible characterization of what i witnessed here in charlottesville. @voxdotcom, fix it or take it down.

vox.com/identities/201…
both videos of “violence” against a journalist in cville cited here are from the same cameraman, on the same march. the light on his camera was so bright it was blinding marchers taking the streets in the dark. he was making us unsafe and starting arguments.
a coward, a liar, AND a bootlicker! quelle surprise.

i’m not anti-press. i think it IS important for our movement to engage with the media & participate in shaping our narrative. just ask @sarahljaffe, @KELLYWEILL, @ianshapira, @_grendan, @letsgomathias, or dozens of other reporters who are willing to engage in good faith.
but standing in the middle of a march, aiming your million watt light into people’s eyes, filming people who have asked you a dozen times to please not, when there are PLENTY OF OTHER SHOTS FOR YOU TO GET...
filming & photographing people who are grieving, collapsed sobbing on the ground at the site of a woman’s murder, people reliving their trauma, people who have politely asked for a moment’s peace... that’s disrespectful.
that’s not journalism. it’s tragedy pornography.
you can cover the story without being a monster.
