There are many charities and organisations collecting funds for #KeralaFloodRelief - thanks to everybody who organised / donated, you're all awesome!

I personally donated to @CMOKerala 's Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF).

Why did I choose CMDRF?
Kerala CMDRF is operated by the Finance Secretary GoK, through the CMDRF bank account in SBI Trivandrum.

Does this mean that this IAS officer can operate this on his whims?

No!

This financial authority is delegated to officers in each tier of CMDRF.

Does this mean beneficiaries have to go and meet these officers and/or local politicians to get CMDRF funds?

No!

CMDRF is completely direct to the beneficiary; and beneficiaries are paid out via direct bank transfer.

What about transparency?

Will I know how these funds are being used? You bet!

Accountability for CMDRF ultimately lies with CM/cabinet and is fully covered under RTI Act.

Forget misuse, even an incorrect category usage will be exposed and questioned in Assembly / media. +
For me, this reassurance is important and I trust the systems and processes this Kerala govt has put in place for the transparent raising and disbursement of CMDRF.

If you think so as well, please donate generously to #KeralaFloodRelief : donation.cmdrf.kerala.gov.in
