Microsoft takes down spearphishing sites created by Fancy Bear.

Ahead of the US midterms, the pace is accelerating. But 2020 is the big target out there.

Remember, the original troll factory had two and a half years to build up.

Compare with the probable troll farm accounts taken off Facebook at the end of July, which targeted liberals.
Just like before, the goal appears to have been to disrupt and divide.

No surprises there. America's hyper-partisan online culture is a sitting target for foreign interference.

Not yet the Civil War, but possibly an incivil one.

Can't emphasise this enough: the Kremlin targets +both+ sides in the US.

If both sides worked together to respond, it would be a good start.

(And yes, the fact that this even needs saying shows how effective Russia has been, and how blindly divided too much of the US is.)
