Manafort jury note suggests they are only deadlocked on one count, so they would have consensus on the other 17.
Legally, a judge can push a jury to keep seeking consensus on a deadlocked count, or can clear the way for a partial verdict on the counts where there is consensus.
What would happen to the Manafort case in the event of a partial verdict?

Legally, he would still face any VA charges that this jury deadlocked on, plus the DC charges — so potentially two more federal trials.

Full text of the jury note, per Judge Ellis:

"8/21/18

If we cannot come to a consensus on a single count, how should we fill in the jury form for that count? And what does that mean for the final verdict

We will need another verdict form please.

(signed by the foreman)"
The note prompted an instruction to keep deliberating from Ellis; he plans to ask them about a partial verdict later on. It also prompted a gambit from Downing to have a new jury form printed with an option for "hung" as to each count. Andres objected to that and Ellis agreed.
On the way out of the courthouse, I asked Brandon van Grack what he thought the jury was signaling with their request for a new form and his facial expression in response was so purely noncommittal that it prompted laughter and chucks on the shoulder from the rest of the SCO team

Ellis told attorneys – without jurors present – that he can take a partial verdict but following this brief recess, when he asks the jury to come back in, he’s going to read off instructions from a case called U.S. v Sawyer for reference.

Then he’s going to send jurors back to deliberate.
If they can’t come to a unanimous decision on this one count, he’ll ask where they stand on the other counts.

Manafort Trial Day 16: The jury is set to begin its fourth day of deliberations at 9:30am. We haven't gotten any questions from the jurors since the first day, so it's tough to guess where they're at. On yesterday's (non)excitement:
The jury went out to deliberate at 9:37 am (by my watch). No other business was discussed and the judge recessed. Now we wait. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: The Manafort jury may be having trouble reaching a consensus. They sent out a note asking: if they could not reach a consensus "on a single count," how should they fill out the verdict form, and what did that mean for the final verdict? Nothing is final yet, however
