Aka, what can you expect from a rep who does not perma-campaign.

In this hypo traditional campaigning requires around $1+ million per year to get and/or keep a house seat (plus all the other energy you have to expend to keep the peanut gallery PACs happy).

Let's assume they're at it 5 days/week and take a couple weeks off per year.

$1,000,000/50/5 = $4,000/day

Whew, that's a fundraising nut!

How much energy do you think it takes to rake in an extra $500 each work hour while doing important stuff like making laws?

That's more per hour than you make for the actual job. How would you prioritize?

Let's throw that out the window.

How much do you think I could get done without any of that pressure?

Imagine how much time I would have to read bills, particularly with capable aides pulling all of the references and making me fun binders.

Let's presume #MaineRaising soldiers on.

It'd be my job to promote the goodness of Maine - as an export, a visit, and/or a great cause to support in lieu of political contributions.

Really mull on that.

If a plucky little underdog running on skills, no money, community support and good deeds wins, how much energy will it bring to #ME02?

What if every media appearance for the months following is sharing loudly that sharing Maine works? Would your business benefit?

Now imagine if traditional campaigning just...stopped working.

The tv spots, the flyers, the people show up at your door - gone. What if that was left for people who couldn't compete on skills and *actually* helping you.

What if all the sound bites...stopped.

What if the *only* way to earn your vote was to prove through actions what priorities are instead of ads?

What if fitness for the job meant concrete examples of skills by reading and explaining bills, applying values and #ME02 needs?

#ME02 wanted hope, and voted for Obama.

#ME02 wanted change, and voted for Trump.

It's time for us to make our own change by voting for an actual independent who will not bow to DC, and will instead ask DC to take a long, hard look at priorities.

Let's stop waiting for someone outside of Maine to change federal politics, we can do it.
