1/ People have to do things at their own pace. Theory and practice have to coalesce. It doesn’t happen to all of us in a shouty political way. The truth will out during the GE which I predict will be soon.
I’m grateful to Brexit and people like you. My friend @ukskies got me into this. His passion woke me up to the fact that moaning at bus stops and dinner parties and on twitter is not going to stop this thing 2/

1/ And the hostile environment applies to most activities that are concerned with the govt serving their citizens/potential citizens. Look at UC and PiP. What people experience at times of deep anguish and stress to gain support at difficult times in their lives is scandalous.

1/ Status quo conservatives prefer stability.
Right wing authoritarians (RWAs) are averse to complexity (which includes diversity).
laissez-faire / free market conservatives favor minimum government intervention.

Then the RWAs (and laissez-faire conservatives) took over the party and adopted policies contrary to status quo conservatism.

THREAD: I think we need to talk about the lefts stance on Party rebirth, & the holier than thou attitude that #Labour has on #libdems & tuition Fees. Given the rise of the far right & how much we actually agree on we really should be working together, so lets try to clear this up
For many of us @LibDems, we left @UKLabour when they voted & took us into Iraq.
Now the Labour left make the argument that Labour is not the same party that it was with Blair, & because Corbyn voted against Iraq; all must be forgiven. The party should be allowed to start afresh.
Fair enough. But if this was the case, why was Tim Farron nailed to the tuition fees cross by Labour campaigners at the last election? He voted AGAINST Fees in the same way Corbyn voted against Iraq.

The pro-Corbyn take on a new party/PLP split seems deeply muddled. The repeated charge that the SDP kept Thatcher in power, and that a new party could do the same for today's Tories, contains an unspoken admission that there *is* an electoral constituency for such a party. (1/?)
Even if all of the new party's support came from 2017 Labour voters (a highly unlikely outcome) that would still indicate that a significant minority of Labour's base strongly favours a different leader and a more centre-left platform. (2/?)
The balance of power between Left and Right inside the Labour Party may have shifted dramatically to the former, but the fact remains that Labour is a broad electoral coalition, and that preserving said coalition (in some form) is crucial to Corbyn entering government. (3/?)
