/ JK thank you for tweeting this article. It's not much different here in the UK. You don't want to accuse anyone of racism because the vast majority of people aren't overtly racist. But there is an underlying attitude and invisible stance, especially in the provinces amongst
/the middle classes that tells you that you are less than them. It's the my best friend is black thing. It wasn't like that in London and funnily enough, when I was a military wife, I thrived and was respected for who I am and what I did. My career ground to a halt after moving
/to the South West. Time and time again I saw less able candidates promoted. Time and time again I was told months later that a mistake had been made. Yet being angry is counter-productive in most cases. I found it best just to get on and keep on showing ( not comfortable) up
/ and showing my black face. Maybe one day, somebody will get the message that (institutional) racism is hidden, insidious and unspoken. We can pretend it's not there and ignore it like the majority of Black Labour MP's or we can stand up and follow the example of our Jewish
/ ciitizens by shouting 'This is unacceptable'. As I said earlier, I have preferred to show up quietly, but maybe I should take a leaf out of Serena's book and start shouting every time a racially biased injustice against black women is done.
