The Hate U Give was a great movie, moving and useful in making people empathetic to the struggles of the black Americans.
It’s not patronizing and doesn’t present things in a manichaean way. The intersection gang violence x police brutality is well presented.
Only issue is the “white privilege” part, as, to be clear, the white kids aren’t your typical WP, but part of the 0.01% and this’s what define their privilege.
I truly think that separating these two concepts, being white and being rich, would do a lot of good for the global political discourse.
