1/5 I certainly do not advocate wishing anyone an "excruciating" death, as a professor at @CarnegieMellon seems to have done, unless they have--there are numerous examples of this--personally and willfully been cruel to others.

Firing this professor would be the wrong answer.
2/5 Some on #BlackTwitter have responded to #QueenElizabeth's death with glee, citing colonial grievances, and it is indeed my understanding that Adolf Hitler took the British Empire as a model.

But many folks saw the Queen as a mostly ceremonial figurehead.
3/5 If we are to wish ill on others, their personal and willful culpability must be established. #QueenElizabeth's personal and willful culpability, as at least putatively a ceremonial figurehead, has not. This does not sound like justice and #BlackTwitter should heed this.

@PopsieWagga1 @GoodJuJuGuru Africans were enslaving centuries before Whitey returned to birthplace of "humanity"

Used to think up to 60% of some African nations slaves

Appears to have been sub-Saharan Africa

Some North African nations were up to 90% slaves

Most Africans enslaved by bros traded locally/E
@PopsieWagga1 @GoodJuJuGuru Most Africans enslaved by bros traded locally & to East

Europeans first introduced to African slave trading by them being paid by African slave traders to transport their chattel slaves up & down West coast to minimise African slave traders losses from overland forced marches
@PopsieWagga1 @GoodJuJuGuru So the enslavement of their bros by fellow Africans and their being traded was happeneing long before Whitey returned

The coastal shipping of slaves between African owners was initiated by Africans before the #AtlanticSlaveTrade

Don't know who first thought of selling/buying...

Post Colonization ⏩

South Africans HATE other Africans.

Ghanaians despise Nigerians.

In Nigeria, Hausas & Igbos bear sharped, kill-ready pocket knives to take each other's lives.

In Ethiopia, Tigrayans are maimed and treated like slaves in their own land.

Once an African gets to power he wants to rule forever & Take away the sources of livelihood of millions of poor families.

In the same Africa, South Africans who should have been the ones to feel the heat of history more, thanks to apartheid, kill other Africans like fowls.

And we think the Queen's death is our Victory?

Reminiscing how much we hate our history & doing nothing to make it count will only make us enemies of ourselves.

My tribe, Igbo knew the worst of colonization in West Africa (not exergerating) which explains why my big sister

HR40 was introduced in 1989. HR40's purpose was simply to create a commission to STUDY and RECOMMEND reparations proposals for Black Americans. This bill has languished for 33 years without ever coming to the floor of the House of Representatives.
Any of the 3 democratic presidents since 1989 office, (@BillClinton, @BarackObama, and @JoeBiden), during that 33 year period could have signed an executive order creating such a commission with the stroke of a pen. NONE of them have done so.
By virtually every economic measurement, Black Americans come in #DEADLAST in terms of wealth, income, healthcare, home-ownership; and first in terms of the incarceration rate and homelessness. We are projected to be wealthless by 2030. ImageImageImageImage

This is NOT okay. Our class did a project after reading the book V for Vendetta. This book talks about an antihero named V tearing down the government for racism, sexism, and homophobia. All of which can be pinpointed to a few things happening currently in our world. Our teacher,
Mrs O’Connor provided us with a poster board and had us associate it to real world things. We were allowed to choose anything from womens rights to religion, police brutality, and racism. Most of her classes decided to link the book to the Black Lives Matter movement, as you can
see in the videos and images provided. Upon which she was pulled from our classroom by the schools security and was told it was offensive and that our research was false despite credited resources on each and every poster on the lockers. They insisted that it’s not all cops ImageImageImageImage

A solid critique of the work I am trying to do with the #wasNotNeurotypical hashtag.

I don’t mean to say eugenics is bad because of exceptional individuals; I’m trying to say that diversity gives rise to new forms of creativity.

The racial critique is spot on too.
We all know that the autistic community has a Whiteness problem.

One way to address that would be to identify Autistic people of color not only now but in history.

One person I’m reasonably confident I can claim was both Black and Autistic was Beethoven, who #wasNotNeurotypical
But like. That’s not great, Beethoven is well-known.

Why don’t I know many other geniuses of color from past ages?

Why is Beethoven’s Blackness not common knowledge?

"We are a society that has been structured from top to bottom by race. You don't get beyond that by deciding not to talk about it anymore. It will always come back; it will always reassert itself over and over again."

(Thread) Abortion, Evangelicalism, and White Supremacy

Their FIRST “moral” crusade wasn't against abortion or homosexuals: It was against African American Christians.

“Race, not abortion, was the founding issue of the religious right”…

“In 1971, two years before Roe v. Wade legalized abortion, the biggest white evangelical group in America, the Southern Baptist Convention, supported its legalization. The group continued that support through much of the 1970s. “

Black Conservatism is NOT Lily-White Conservatism

"Authentic black conservatism has always had the fundamental and explicit goal of opposing white supremacy."

— Kareim Oliphant

If Burkean conservatism is a response to the French Revolution, then African conservatism is also a response. It emerges out of, and in response to the shock of both Colonialism and The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade — the largest forced migration in history.…
The LARGEST, long-distance, coerced migration in human history — The Atlantic slave trade is the backdrop, for the dissimilar attitudes, values, unique differences, between, Anglo conservatism, and what is referred to as African or "black conservatism".

I do not believe that my physical safety would have been in danger. They were definitely going to gang up on me to put me in a bad mental and emotional health situation.

There's no way Link didn't know about this because he's in the same chat, ImageImage
and he sent me these messages after that conversation.

The reason why I'm not tagging the white trans woman is, because she's a reporter and I don't want to give her any notoriety. Full transparency; I also forgot her Twitter handle.
Link was out there so hard for those white people (and a few non-white POC people) he was willing put a black person in danger.

I know that white trans woman personally and there's no way that conversation wouldn't have escalated.

Rare video 📹: Black Wall Street. #BlackWallStreet #BlackHistoryMonth
#BlackWallStreet is a very serious reminder of the dissimilar history African American businesses had to endure, endured, things, that most of "The Newly Arrived" would've never survived. And, despite our history: Today, they ask "Why can't you just be like the good Asians".
You could have built to the moon 🌚 and watch it all disappear, all in one night, all in one night! The legal beneficiaries of our pain, being falsely compared to us. Centuries of working for free; due to slavery,

And, now, this. After all that — and we were supposedly "free".

Still processing my first run in with the police...

I've been doing a lot of cicada interviews & with national news outlets contacting me, I thought I should have some live ones onhand. So I was delighted when my cousin called panicking about the "swarm" on the side of her home.
She invited me to come over last night and relocate them to my yard where they haven't yet emerged. I showed up at midnight with all of my collecting equipment because that's when the cicada party really gets going!
It was so enchanting to watch the mass emergence that I just got lost for a couple hours in the exceedingly rare natural experience unfolding around me. So I didn't even notice when the cops quietly showed up.

My last #hackathon & #socialenterprise pitch was to improve minority participation in #clinicaltrials. This trial is has 74% black participants compared to usual 2.5%. Why?

Yes, we do need to expand access. Colon cancer kills.

#MedTwitter #BlackTwitter #NurseTwitter thoughts?
In trials for new therapies however, you see this:

“Even though heart conditions disproportionately affect Black individuals, they accounted for only 2.5% of clinical trial participants in a global trials report by the Food and Drug Administration.”…
So black participants are the majority in WHICH studies?

Having been in executive suite, speaking on #access broadly, I saw non-clinicians use “access” to shame clinicians on self care or pointing out workplace issues. Yet same administrators would cut number of staff for budget
