We have received virtually no meaningful response to the hundreds of letters and thousands of questions we have asked our congressman through his staff. Our congressman @RepMcCaul has refused to meet with our group in any setting.
On August 18th, we asked "Does @RepMcCaul believe in climate change, and if so, what will he do about it?" - The office responded that he "does not believe climate change is a hoax." but could not offer any policy he supports to combat it. (corrected earlier tweet from notes)
On August 9th we asked "Where does Congressman @RepMcCaul stand on attempts by the administration to use the legal efforts by legal immigrants to use the social safety net (SNAP, CHIP, Obamacare) in order to entrap and deport them? - We have not received a reply.
52) On September 7th, staff stated that @RepMcCaul is opposed to family separation and feels the immigration bill he co-authored would be best solution. Since the bill 1) did not pass and 2) did not address family separation, what is he doing now? - We have not received a reply.
51) On August 18th we asked - "Since it is not illegal to seek asylum and that the act of crossing the border is only misdemeanor. Why does a constituent letter from @repmccaul conflate MS13 with all immigrants and give misleading information about asylum seekers?" - No reply.
50) On Aug. 23rd Betsy Devos’ plans to arm teachers was discussed. "Does @repmccaul believe it should be a priority to arm teachers, when teachers are spending their own money to provide supplies to their classrooms?" - No direct response. Staff "@RepMcCaul supports 2nd amd"
49) On July 12th (and every week since) we asked "When will we receive replies to our letters and questions to @RepMcCaul ?" Staff has told us "We send everything to Washington and I'll try to get replies." About 1 in 10 questions receives any response at all.
48) On August 30th we asked "Will @RepMcCaul investigate efforts to retract passports and citizenship from hispanic Texans?" - No meaningful reply from staff. "Monitoring the situation."
47) On Aug. 30th we asked "Why hasn't the Congressman spoken out on our tax dollars going to Saudi Arabia as they commit carnage in Yemen?" - No response.
46) Yesterday we asked "What does @RepMcCaul think of 13 million dollars being taken from cancer research to pay for immigrant detention facilities."
45) On September 7th we asked. "Does @RepMcCaul agree with the president that the standard for determining whether crimes are prosecuted should be whether it damages Republican's chance of holding the house?" - No Reply
44) On July 30th and every week since we have asked "What is @RepMcCaul doing to fix his pipes? Can we help him find a plumber?" - Staff "I think he said he's getting that fixed." statesman.com/news/local/aus…
43) On August 23rd we asked @RepMcCaul "Family Reunification is long time-honored tradition for American Immigration but he uses the term "Chain Migration" instead. Does @repmccaul support family reunification?" - No reply. #MondayMotivation #VoteThemOut
42) Starting in June we have repeatedly asked @RepMcCaul to co-sponsor H.R.5476 the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act to protect the Mueller investigation. - Response "@RepMcCaul believes Russia interfered with the election and is monitoring the situation."
41) On July 26th we asked "Why did @RepMcCaul vote for a tax bill that will balloon the federal deficit to more than 300 billion by 2020?" - No response.
40) On June 21st and every week since we have asked some variation of this question. "When will Congressman McCaul hold the Department of Homeland Security responsible for reuniting children with their parents? When will his committee hold hearings?"
39) On Aug. 2, we reminded @RepMcCaul that he authored the 2016 Trust Act, stating that extremely careless people shouldn't have security classification. "Will he apply this standard to the current admin?" - Response @RepMcCaul holds this admin to the same standard as any other🤣
38) On May 24th we asked "Does @RepMcCaul agree with the president that NFL players who protest should 'maybe' be deported?" - No answer.
37) In May 2018 and many time since, we asked @RepMcCaul why he defended family separation saying it sent a "powerful message of deterrence." - No answer.
36) In June we asked "Does @repmccaul hate brown people." Staff answered "He does not hate brown people." This may be the only question we have actually received a direct answer to.
35) Last week we asked "There is an immediate need to solve the problem of immigrant children being traumatized in ways that will affect their lives for years to come. Who is responsible for overseeing their welfare?"

31) On June 14th a vietnam veteran in our group asked "How does alienation of our allies make America safer and how does cancellation of readiness exercises with South Korea make us safer?" - No answer.
30) Last week we asked "Why does Rep McCaul champion a plan that takes money away from effective border solutions which protect the sensitive environment in the region by supporting a wall the purpose of which is to feed the president's giant ego?"

27) On July 19th we asked "What is @RepMcCaul doing to secure our elections? And why did representative McCaul vote against additional funding for elections security?" - Answer: Rep McCaul believes Russia tried to interfere with the election.
26) In June we asked: "Why did @repmccaul vote against net neutrality?" - Staff: I think they said he believes that the Internet should be regulated by the FTC not the FCC. No clarification since.
25) On July 27th we asked "What does @RepMcCaul think should be done about children whose parents were deported without them?" - No response.
24) On June 14th we asked "As chairman of HHSC with responsibility for oversight of ICE has @RepMcCaul inspected any of the 100 detention facilities housing immigrants?" - No response.
Last Thursday in light of the recent UN report on climate we asked yet again "As chairman of Homeland Security, shouldn't Mr. McCaul investigate the implications of global climate change for our national security?" - No response. theguardian.com/environment/20…

18) 5/17/2018 - "According to the book of Matthew, Mary and Joseph were refugees in Egypt, does @RepMcCaul believe that Pharoah should have taken their infant child away from them to send a "powerful message of deterrence?" - No direct response.
17) On July 14th we asked "What government programs will be cut to accommodate the revenue loss from the Republican tax act that @RepMcCaul voted for?" - No response.
16) In June we asked "Expensive healthcare premiums and the closing of rural hospitals are a big problem for constituents in @RepMcCaul district. How does he intend to fix this problem?" - No response.
15) In August we pointed out that "The president has a well documented history of lying to the American people." and asked "Does @RepMcCaul intend to hold the president accountable for his falsehoods?" - No response.
14) On October 18th we asked "Does @RepMcCaul support the Voting Rights Act? How does he feel about voter suppression in Waller County which is part of his district?" - No Response
