Six Home Office enforcement agents burst into his hall. Within minutes, he found himself pinned naked and screaming on the floor of his bedroom, under arrest, while his son was left alone in the next room

Tapiwa, originally from Zimbabwe, was living in the UK legally with his British wife.

The raid took place as a result of an incorrect tip-off from the DVLA, which had failed to notice the valid stamp in his passport

His distressed screams can be heard in an audio recording he managed to take of the Home Office raid on his phone, before the officers handcuffed him

Speaking publicly for the first time at his Bolton home where the raid took place, Tapiwa told BuzzFeed News how the events unfolded

He is now in the early stages of a civil lawsuit against the Home Office. While the DVLA has apologised and paid compensation for its role, the Home Office has not

His barrister, David Jones of Garden Court Chambers, told BuzzFeed News it was "shocking" that Tapiwa was treated like an aggressor

Tapiwa’s case reveals the human cost of the information sharing created by the government's “hostile environment” policy. While it is shocking, it is unlikely to be a one-off.
