Our homeland security is in disarray. Every service under Interior, except the Federal Fire Service is a racket of some sort. The Civil Defense is proving to be another disaster waiting to happen. They now carry our raids & detain people for money over trivial non-criminal issues
There is a developing case at the Asaba HQ of NSCDC which borders on infringement of human rights and brigandage with demand for N1m bail without the courtesy of even communicating the crime of the abducted citizen to him or grant him representation. Who cursed Nigeria? 🤔
The @CivilDefenceNGR should prepare themselves ahead of what is coming. We will not watch them abuse the rights of innocent citizens without taking appropriate action. The act that set them up is clear and there is no such mandate to act above the law. #UncivilCivilDefence
The men of Civil Defence HQ in Asaba, abducted a man from Obiaruku in Ukwuani LGA all the way to Asaba without a warrant or any reason at all communicated to the man even after showing them his licenses and permits for his goods at the store they raided. #UncivilCivilDefence
When the complaint came, all due diligence were done and a PRO of that zone called in to say the matter will be resolved that is wasn’t a criminal case. This was after they threatened to shoot the man and the family that came to find out why their uncle was raided & abducted.
As I speak the man is still in their custody and they are demanding N1m ransome for him to be released according to the family member that contacted me. I have asked that they report to the police HQ in the area and share their petition. @abellodam #UncivilCivilDefense @PoliceNG
The public should be aware that mentioning a random citizen’s name as a “Get out of Jail Free card” is not a sign of progress. Indiscriminate arrests or abduction of innocent citizens just to extort them is a CRIME. The hideouts used for these racketeering will soon be raided. 
The leadership of @CIVILDEFENDERS should investigate this and bring the perpetrators of the Asaba HQ incident to book. This shames the entire security outfit having proven not to have learnt anything about human right abuses. #UncivilCivilDefence
