Now this thread is for the people who, as part of their human experience, went to national schools and groups of schools. First, you are not brighter than us. You are not our betters. We can call out your abuse or any abuse by anyone you identify with.
I am not attacking you when I say this. But over and over again when I make a point about how your schools have harmed the Kenyan experience, the same conversation happens. I am not attacking your experiences, or your humanity.
That I spent more mental juice trying to explain this to old boys of Starehe (still waiting for that invite to your Whatsapp groups) bothers me. Are we our high schools? Are we going to live as adults by the institutions we visited (it was a visit, just a long one).

On this day, five years ago, Westgate was just waking up the way malls do. What begun just a few hours from now could have been prevented, could have been stopped before it escalated, could have been solved fast, could have been investigated so we never go through it again...
The clusterfuckery that's the other side of this social contract we call Kenya failed in every instance. It ignored warnings, reacted like a drunk sloth, brought tanks to a gun fight, frustrated international investigators, and blew up a pile of explosive mattresses.
Yes, a few men and women were heroes that day. But they didn't have to die or almost die. No mother deserves to have to tell her child to lie on the floor and stay quiet just minutes after the child was having the time of her life buying shoes.

So there’s this app Dems are pushing called VoteWithMe and it’s creepy AF. It’s built by former Obama admin, Google and Amazon employees. If access every contact in your phone and shows their entire voting history and how they’re registered. It’s part of the “new data project”..
The privacy policy is: there is none. They admit to storing and sharing not only your contacts but they collect data “from and about” your device🤖Just sort of amazing considering the Cambridge Analytica outrage.
They claim over and over its “publicly available data” public where? It’s also pushed as completely for progressives so now anyone who has your number can target you based on your party registration @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept is this okay?

RTings.com has a very useful general guide to calbirating your television so that it doesn't look like a 1980s soap opera. They also have many, many TV-model-specific guides.

Please, consider the children. Turn off all the motion smoothing and auto-color elements.
Even if you bought a relatively inexpensive television, if it's less than a decade old, it can probably look pretty good. The out-of-box-factory-settings almost certainly do not.

Please. If you have not done this, stop what you are doing. Right now. Change your settings.

1. In 1981, the National Rifle Association produced a short film called “It Can Happen Here.” In it, federal agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) are depicted as “Nazi gestapos” and “jack-booted fascists.”
2. The following year, U.S. Rep. John Dingell, a Michigan Democrat, said this of the agency tasked with regulating the gun market: “I would love to put [ATF agents] in jail,” said Dingell, now retired. “I think they are evil.”
3. By the 1990s, the NRA’s coordinated attacks on the ATF reached a fever pitch. It was called a “loose cannon” harassing gun owners. It was accused of “murder and persecution of innocent citizens.”

In September of 2004, armed terrorists took 1,100 hostages in a school in Beslan, Russia. After three days, Russian security forces stormed the building using tanks, rockets and other heavy weapons. The siege ended with the death of at least 385 people.

The incident sparked bitter controversy over the competence of the security forces and shook confidence in the Kremlin. To end the controversy, Putin assigned a parliamentary commission to investigate the incident, and put this man in charge of it: Aleksander Porfiryevich Torshin
Torshin's report, made public in 2005, absolved the national security forces and blamed the local authorities in Beslan for not having done enough to contain the tragedy. Afterwards, Putin did not forget Torshin and rewarded him for his loyalty with political and financial power
